Hey! So Glad You're Here.

Hi! I'm Cody Moser, Edgerton High School's Art Teacher.

Through this blog, I talk lots about anything and everything art education! From the rich history to theories along with development. I like to focus on topics surrounding grades 7-12. My main concerns within my philosophy are that students are making connections with their environment and social issues and current events around the world; along with a sense of community and development. In doing so we know that our students are further defining their voice and the meaning of our world through their own eyes. Students need to be able to experiment and "play" with materials to comprehend what they are capable of creating. It also teaches them how they can tie in their concepts and ideas within the creation of an artwork.

Other engagements that I want to involve in my classes are class discussions, critiques, and possibly debates! I find that these popular used engagements help to break the ice between students as well. I want to have an inclusive classroom where everyone feels welcomed and valued. Setting goals is also something that I find important. Setting classroom goals can create a great goal-oriented environment. Reaching/attempting these goals will help to keep students on track.

Knowing students goals is important to me, as an educator. I value the connection between the students and me. I feel that we can create in a way that we feel supported. I find that being empathic is also very important within the classroom. I want to be able to fully understand my students and their feelings and the messages they are trying to spread with their artworks and what their goals are, personally, artistically, and academically.

Thanks for visiting!
